Virtual Daedalus

Virtual Daedalus

Exciting mapping technology is being used by the masterplanners to create and develop the emerging plans and proposals associated with the redevelopment of Daedalus. Groundwork GIS has in turn used this data to bring you closer to the site. As a result, interactive mapping techniques have been developed to enable people's feedback and the specific area to which this relates, to be recorded at previous consultation events. It has also resulted in the production of a flythrough of the existing site. Virtual Daedalus gives you the opportunity to view some of the interactive mapping work that has been completed by the team to date. Please click on the tabs above to find out more.

We would like to give special thanks to the Environment Agency and the VEPs Project which is partially funded by European Regional Development Funding through INTERREG IIIBNWE Community Initiative, for the use of data and models which have allowed the work on Virtual Daedalus to be possible.

Once the plugin has been installed please use the View Daedalus 3D button at the bottom of this web page.

Instructions

Google Earth is a widely used internet software package which allows users to interact with virtual maps of Earth. The work that has been produced by the team to date has used the information this technology provides. To view a Google Earth map of Daedalus click here. Please note that to view this, you may need to download a free plugin from Google if you have not already done so. Please find a simple instruction guide below which tells you how to get the most out of this programme.
