Equipping your organisation with the information to make informed decisions and make the most impact
We can work with you to develop bespoke projects that deliver for local people and for your targets. Our projects range from relatively straightforward contract work, to projects that are innovative and involve creative solutions to problems.
We use industry leading GIS technology, but to a different brief: we’re a part of a not-for-profit federation of local trusts, whose aim is to create better neighbourhoods, improve job prospects and encourage greener ways of living throughout the UK.
We work with around 70% of the local authorities across the UK to help them shape their places and improve local quality of life. We can work with your existing expertise in a number of ways:
- Visualising and Layering complex data, making it easy to understand and analyse
- Bringing together your own information with other specialist data-sets (or information from neighbouring authorities)
- Helping you make informed decisions, based on a sound understanding of where you work but also who lives there
- Our experienced team can add an extra dimension to your team by offering service which is often not available because of constraints on in-house GIS departments. We will work with your existing GIS departments to ensure the service we provide integrates into your existing systems.
EXAMPLE
- Include sites owned by other organisations
- Create walking catchments to better understand the site’s users
- Create a prioritised list of sites for improvement and investment
- Supply the results to be used back in the corporate or departmental GIS
As well as mapping and analysis, our friendly team also have expertise in asset surveying, on-site software training and 3D modelling, and tailor every package to suit. As part of Groundwork, we are able to bring real-life experience of community development and environmental projects to the table, giving GIS a human side.
Many local authorities are legal members of Groundwork Trusts and we sit on LSPs and other local structures around the UK. We have a shared understanding of the local area and local priorities, which gives us a head start in creating initiatives that will really work on the ground.
EXAMPLE
- Producing bespoke resources for use in public meetings or on the internet
- Interactive mapping allows people to see proposals, background information, add suggestions/comments
- Post-consultation analysis to identify patterns in the comments and whether they were made by a representative sample of people
