Analysis and Research
Groundwork is best known for practical projects, but
has also carried a number of successful research projects
and feasibility studies using GIS. As well as our extensive
national and regional databases, one of Groundwork's key
advantages in this area is its access to real projects
and local groups along with its network of partners. Recent
projects include:
- Countryside Agency - work in the South West,
East of England & South East Regions to map &
research the Countryside In & Around Towns.
- SEEDA
- Groundwork
has delivered a number of projects with the South
East's Development Agency over the past few years,
including:
- research into skills and training gaps
- access to major
transport hubs for local communities
- work on an evaluation
framework for jointly funded development posts.

We have also developed good links with a number of academic
institutions. Key collaborations include:
- Brunel University - providing work placements
and assignments for students, working jointly on visitor
surveys and delivering lectures as part of the Geography
degree
- Royal Holloway - research into the delivery
of interactive maps over the internet
- WestFocus - partnership with this consortium
of 7 Universities as part of a knowledge transfer programme
- Oxford Brookes - evaluation of the Home to
Hub programme
