Daedalus
Timeframe:
June 2007 - Present
Partners:
SEEDA, Groundwork Solent
Overview:
As part of the consultation process Groundwork GIS has been asked to support the public and partner consultation phase.
Deliverables:
To collect consultation data Groundwork GIS created a custom interactive mapping tool which allows users to drag and drop comment markers onto a custom map. Consultations where often held in location without broadband so this tool was designed to be run both online, via the project website, and offline using a standard USB memory stick. To help reduce the anxiety often felt by none technical members of the public when they are asked to use technology we decided to use an intuitive interactive touch screen technology. In addition to our interactive consultation tool a traditional postal questionnaire was undertaken with 20,000 households contacted. Combining these two datasets gave our clients the vital local feedback they required to make informed decisions about the regeneration of Daedalus.
