Making Technology Accessible
Groundwork GIS has worked hard over the years to ensure it's services are both initiative and accessible to all. We have used a combination of off the shelf products and bespoke applications to engage, capture and report the information back to our clients.
Retail Software
Our aim of offering clients a competative solution for their project means we are constantly researching the market for the newest software offerings. The GIS team offers both web and desktop based solutions in the form of ESRI ArcReader and web based MapViewSVG formats.
Bespoke Software
When our clients require a solution which retail products do not cover then one of a kind solutions are the only option. Working closely with our extended network of developers we have created our own interative mapping solution, to capture and present consultation data.
More recently with the emergance for web map API's we have produced reporting and interative solutions using Google Maps and Google Earth.
Interactive Solutions
Traditional, location specific, consultations revolve around paper maps and processes such as planning for real. As GIS has mature and the cost of bring rich layers of geographical information to consultations has decreased using the solutions such as the Interactive Mapping Tool the methords for undertaking consultations has changed.
During our involvment with the VEPS project, Groundwork GIS has invested in interactive whiteboard technology to reduce the barriers between technology and the public. Tested in large public consultation events over 500 comments a day have been captured.
Portable front and rear projection screens are used along with interative input devices to allow the public to view both 2D and 3D information.
