Equipping your institution with the information to make informed decisions and make the most impact

We can support the current work of your own experts with our experience as GIS specialists. Alternatively, we can work with you to develop funding bids based on shared objectives.

Our projects range from simple data collection and visualisation to European Union funded research programmes. Whether you are looking for a partner or simply supporting information for your research we can work with you in a number of ways:

  • Bring together specialist data sets to inform your own research
  • Map your data and carry out spatial analysis to reveal statistically significant patterns and trends
  • Visualising and layering complex data, making it easy to understand and report on
  • Helping you make informed decisions, based on a sound understanding of where you work (or want to work)

EXAMPLE

The €4.7m Virtual Environmental Planning project (VEPs) ran for 5 years and was a collaboration between two UK universities and five others across NW Europe. As one of the partners, we provided practitioner input and user testing workshops as well as structured feedback during development of the planning tools.

We use industry leading GIS technology, but to a different brief: we’re a part of a not-for-profit federation of local trusts called Groundwork, whose aim is to create better neighbourhoods, improve job prospects and encourage greener ways of living throughout the UK.

As well as mapping and analysis, our friendly team also have expertise in field surveying, on-site software training and 3D modelling, and tailor every package to suit. As part of Groundwork, we are able to bring real-life experience of community development and environmental projects to the table, giving GIS a human side.

EXAMPLE

A university wants to engage with young people hard-to-reach groups. We can help with:
  • Recognising the demographics and the data that is held regarding the community
  • Interactive Mapping which allows teams and decision-makers to see proposals for an area or other background information and add their suggestions and comments
  • Producing bespoke resources for use at open days or on the internet
